Class Details

Location: Visual Art Institute, 2900 S 300 W, South Salt Lake, UT

Tuition: $240 for 8 weeks or $30 per class (drop-ins welcome)

Autumn season: September 12 – December 12, 2026. No Saturday classes on 17 October (Bunka-Sai).

Youth Calligraphy & Painting 少儿班

Visual Art Institute, South Salt Lake

Saturdays 1 PM – 2:30 PM. For children and young learners, with Cuizhen Yue Domke and Lin Yang. No class 17 October.

Youth Martial Arts 少儿功夫班

Visual Art Institute, South Salt Lake

Saturdays 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM. Martial arts fundamentals for young learners with Lin Yang. No class 17 October.

Sat 1-2:30

Baguazhang Workshop 八卦掌

Visual Art Institute, South Salt Lake

Saturdays 1 PM – 2:30 PM. Internal martial arts with Lin Yang, fifth-generation Yin Family Baguazhang lineage holder. Circle walking, palm changes, and internal energy work.

Tue/Thu from 29 Sep

Tai Chi for Beginners 太极

Visual Art Institute, South Salt Lake

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 29 September, with Lin Yang. Slow, low-impact movement built on the same internal principles as Baguazhang. Times to be confirmed.

Make snow skin mooncakes alongside AACA members. No experience needed.

Snow skin mooncakes are the no-bake kind, pressed from glutinous rice flour and chilled rather than baked, so the patterns stay crisp. You will make your own to take home.

Bunka-Sai 文化祭

A full afternoon of Japanese culture, free to attend.

Saturday, October 17, 2026 · 1:00–6:00 PM

Hands-on workshops, live performance, food and vendor booths, and an art exhibition. This year’s theme is Discover Kimono: Tradition for Today, looking at how the garment is worn now as well as how it was worn then. Bring friends and family and make an afternoon of it.

With the Visual Art Institute, Utah JACL, the Kimono Club, Matcha Kyoto Cafe and Yishuikong.
